Job Summary
We are seeking a Plant Support Engineer to join the HVAC, Chillers, and Cranes Engineering Group in support of the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our nuclear power facility. This position provides technical engineering expertise for plant systems, supports day-to-day operational needs, and ensures compliance with regulatory, safety, and design requirements.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, collaborative, and effective in a highly regulated environment. The Plant Support Engineer is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving plant issues and serves as a key liaison between Engineering and the Operations, Production, and Maintenance organizations.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
Provide engineering support for nuclear plant systems, including troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective actions
Evaluate plant conditions and develop technical solutions to maintain system reliability and required safety margin
Support plant operations, maintenance activities, and outage planning and execution as required
Prepare, review, and approve engineering analyses, calculations, and design change packages
Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, plant Technical Specifications, and applicable industry codes and standards
Participate in root cause evaluations and corrective action programs
Interface effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Licensing, and Regulatory personnel
Complete required training and maintain qualifications necessary to perform assigned engineering functions
Serve as a member of the station Emergency Response Organization (ERO)
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline associated with power plant operations, or equivalent work experience; Equivalent experience is defined as demonstrated success at the engineer or technical specialist level
Experience in nuclear power design engineering, systems engineering, operations, or equivalent is required
All experience levels will be considered; a minimum of four (4) years of engineering experience is preferred
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills
Physical ability and willingness to perform plant walkdowns and field inspections
Broad technical understanding of HVAC systems, chillers, and cranes, including the ability to support system modifications
Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and technical standards
* Final pay grade will be determined based on experience and qualifications
Key Metrics:
Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration across organizational boundaries
Ability to clearly communicate routine technical issues through written and verbal means
Maintains effective working relationships with internal stakeholders
Understanding of power generation equipment and system interrelationships
Awareness of business and economic drivers impacting plant operations
Ability to apply structured problem-solving processes to address routine issues
