Vistra Dry Cask Project Controller in Perry, Ohio

Job Summary

The Dry Cask Project Controller provides dedicated financial, scheduling, and document control support for the site's Dry Cask Storage (DCS) program. This role ensures accurate tracking of project performance, compliance with regulatory documentation standards, and coordination between internal stakeholders and external vendors. The position supports both operational campaigns and long-term planning, with a strong emphasis on technical documentation integrity, financial accountability, and risk mitigation.

This role interfaces across Engineering, Licensing, Fuels, Records Management and Dry Cask Vendor teams, and is critical to maintaining audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and efficient execution of spent fuel storage activities and cost controls.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Vendor and External Correspondence Coordination - primary coordinator for document exchange with dry cask storage system and other vendors.

  • Document Control and Lifecycle Management - Oversee the full lifecycle of DCS-related documents

  • Engineering Deliverables and Approval Tracking - Maintain and update the Engineering Deliverables spreadsheet

  • Technical Review Support and Change Verification - Collaborate with the Dry Cask review team to verify implementation of requested editorial and technical changes in vendor documents

  • Digital Records and Repository Management

  • Welding, NDE, and Personnel Qualification Documentation to support inspection and audit readiness.

  • Field Campaign and Operational Documentation Support

  • Curate and manage the Field Work folder, ensuring field teams have access to procedures, worker certifications, daily dose reports, and cask movement.

  • Support real-time decision-making during active campaigns.

  • Lessons Learned and Knowledge Management Integration - Capture and standardize operational lessons

  • Financial and Project Performance Monitoring - financial performance of Dry Cask projects KPIs. Monitor expenditures against budget, identify variances, and support forecasting for capital spending.

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting - accurate cost estimates for DCS-related work, Support the Long-Range Plan (LRP) with detailed financial inputs.

  • Schedule, Risk, and Compliance Management -Support the development of integrated project plans.

  • Stakeholder Coordination and Reporting - Provide status updates to the Fleet/Site Projects teams

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

Skills and Knowledge

  • Technical Expertise: Analytical skills for budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis.

  • Project Controls: Proficient in project budgeting, scheduling, and risk management principles.

  • Nuclear Knowledge: General understanding of nuclear operations, regulatory requirements, and document control standards (e.g., 10 CFR 50, ASME NQA-1).

  • Document Management: FileNet, SharePoint, Maximo, SAP, and electronic records management.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of project management tools.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with technical teams, vendors, and management.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or other technical discipline preferred

Professional Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred

  • Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA) or similar records management credential preferred.

On-the-job Experience

  • Experience in project controls, document management, or financial support roles within a nuclear or industrial environment.

  • Direct experience with Dry Cask Storage programs, spent fuel handling, or nuclear documentation systems (e.g., FileNet, SharePoint, Maximo, SAP) strongly preferred.

Key Metrics

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and forecasting

  • Completeness and audit readiness of DCS documentation

  • On-time delivery of Engineering Deliverables

  • Reduction in document review cycle times

  • Compliance with document retention and access policies

  • Successful upload and sharing of Lessons Learned

  • Budget variance control (< 5% target)

This position can sit at any of our nuclear sites.
