Taylor County Board Of County Commissioners Working Team Leader - Recycling in Perry, Florida

SUMMARY:

Responsible for effective and efficient management and supervision of the work crews assigned consisting of laborers. Trains subordinates in the proper means and methods through oral instruction and hands on training. Oversees the collection, sorting, preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing to include old corrugated cardboard, newspaper, office paper, steel and aluminum cans, and plastics. Inspects work of crews assigned, recommends modifications or adjustments in work methods, crew size and related factors to insure quality of work and timely completions. Responsible for security and safety of work crews and equipment under sometimes hazardous conditions. Responsible for picking up DOC Inmate Work Squads and returning them at the end of the day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Directs, supervises and works with DOC Inmate Work Squads, crews consisting of laborers and equipment operators.

Oversees collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables.

Oversees preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing.

Oversees operating equipment such as bailers, forklifts, front-end loaders, and compactors.

Providing preventative maintenance as may be required for recycling equipment.

Maintaining equipment and vehicle logs.

Maintaining work areas in neat, orderly, and safe manner.

Following guidelines of worker safety as required.

Reporting and/or responding to accidents, unusual incidents, or public complaints as soon as feasibly possible.

Inspects and insures the quality of work performed by assigned crews.

Performance of other job related duties as assigned.
