Nammo Perry is a center of excellence for the design, development and production of munitions and pyrotechnic products for the U.S. Department of Defense. Nammo employees working at the Florida site manufacture all types of 40mm low and high velocity ammunition; pyrotechnic marking; signaling and tactical illumination devices; battlefield effects training simulators; demolition charges; hand grenade fuzes; and other ammunition components. Additionally, they provide load, assemble, and pack (LAP) services for large caliber direct-fire ammunition.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Design Engineering Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in leading a team of Design Engineers in maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing our automated and semi-automated equipment, ensuring we consistently meet production, quality, and safety standards.

What You’ll Do: Precision in Action
Lead and execute special projects, including the design and fabrication of production equipment (automated and semi-automated assembly and secondary machines), material selection, and tooling requirements.
Evaluate and optimize existing mechanical, electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to significantly improve yield and throughput.
Develop and implement innovative mechanical/electromechanical fixtures and machines by meticulously analyzing customer requirements.
Collaborate extensively with Quality and Process Engineers, and other cross-functional departments, to gather all necessary requirements for detailed scopes for new equipment procurement.
Ensure system and product quality by meticulously confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Maintain equipment operational efficiency by coordinating maintenance and repair services, strictly adhering to manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, and requesting specialized services as needed.
Accurately estimate tooling costs from the initial design phase through fabrication.
Coordinate effectively with machine vendors throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept and design to fabrication, runoff, and equipment setup.
Uphold strict adherence to Company policies and procedures, safety and environmental standards, and excellent housekeeping practices.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and repair support to the maintenance team for production equipment.
Supervise and mentor design engineers, providing technical guidance, reviewing designs, and fostering their professional development.

What Dedicated Teammates Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education (preferred).
Advanced 3D Design capability, preferably with Autodesk Inventor 2024, with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and maintaining automated assembly machines (e.g., Swanson, Bodine, or similar carousel-type assembly machines).
Minimum of 5yrs of Supervisory Experience.
In-depth knowledge of hydraulic systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of pneumatic systems.
Exceptional ability to interpret all types of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete projects from inception to completion.
Proficiency in following and understanding PLC code.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly.
Excellent organizational and computer skills.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet specified deadlines.
Our Woking Conditions and Requirements
You must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (Requires U.S. Citizenship).
Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes random testing.
