Taylor County Board Of County Commissioners Recycling Technician in Perry, Florida
SUMMARY: Responsible for the collection, sorting, preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing to include old corrugated cardboard, newspaper, office paper, steel and aluminum cans, and plastics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables.
- Preparation and processing of recyclable materials for marketing.
- Operating equipment such as bailers, forklifts, front-end loaders, and compactors.
- Providing preventative maintenance as may be required for recycling equipment.
- Maintaining equipment and vehicle logs.
- Maintaining work areas in neat, orderly, and safe manner.
- Following guidelines of worker safety as required.
- Reporting and/or responding to accidents, unusual incidents, or public complaints as soon as feasibly possible.
- Performance of other job related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to receive public with courtesy.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge of solid waste/recycling principles and practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED.
Preferably one-year experience in recyclable collection, preparation, and disposal.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:
Valid Florida CDL License/Class B or, if a resident of Georgia, Georgia CDL.
