Actalent Electronics Technician in Peoria, Illinois

Job Title: Elec Tech

Job Description

Join a dynamic team focused on Electronic Control Modules (ECMs) where you will provide essential hands-on electronics lab support for product development and validation activities. This role emphasizes board-level modifications, debugging, and rework to enhance field returns, prototype testing, and early-stage product development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform board-level electronics rework and modifications, including cutting traces, replacing or modifying components, and adding debug ports and wiring.

  • Support ECM field return analysis through initial testing and troubleshooting.

  • Assist engineering teams during concept validation and early prototype testing.

  • Modify multiple prototype units to enable continued testing.

  • Build and modify electrical harnesses.

  • Maintain and improve lab test setups, tools, and work areas.

  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technical leads to efficiently resolve hardware issues.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on electronics technician experience preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in electronics troubleshooting and rework.

  • Experience with PCB modifications, component replacement, debug wiring and ports, and harness building.

  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation.

  • Familiarity with prototype, validation, or development hardware environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Hands-on, adaptable, and proactive.

  • Comfortable working on imperfect or early-revision hardware.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Work Environment

This position offers a hands-on electronics lab setting within a fast-paced environment, dealing with varying hardware issues and priorities. The role requires troubleshooting, rework, and development testing support. The building is air-conditioned and equipped to facilitate lab work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Peoria, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr.
