Amentum Avionics Technician I in Pensacola, Florida
The Avionics Technician II performs aircraft maintenance to include inspection, operational test, repair, modification and replacement of aircraft electrical/ avionics systems and components. Applies technical knowledge and skills to troubleshoot complex electrical / avionics discrepancies.
Essential Responsibilities:
Use schematic diagrams, blueprint drawings, maintenance manuals and factory publications to operate, modify, test and repair aircraft electrical / avionics systems.
Utilize test equipment to include but not limited to digital volt / amp meter, transponder ramp tester, fuel quantity tester, ITT calibration test set, and other test equipment required in the troubleshooting, modification, and repair of avionics / electrical systems.
Use the T-6 Maintenance Manual, NATOPS and factory published manuals to operate and test respective aircraft avionics components.
Initiate and complete applicable maintenance forms in NALCOMIS OOMA/VIDS MAFS as required.
Order parts and materials.
Obtain and maintain qualification as a Plane Captain and any associated licenses/qualifications necessary to perform the duties of an OMAT2. Operate ground support equipment.
Identify and treat avionics/ electrical corrosion.
Perform aircraft jacking and hoisting as required.
Perform certification and recertification of altimeter systems.
Perform calibration of directional guidance systems.
Required to perform collateral duty inspections.
Must obtain and keep current turn qualification.
Maintain cleanliness of the work center.
Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Egress Familiarization, and Hazardous Waste and Tool Control programs.
Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
Assist as directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of government / company owned equipment.
Present a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers.
Furnish and maintain own hand tools.
Operate portable firefighting equipment.
Operate aircraft ground servicing equipment including vehicles, tugs, tractors, servicing carts, aircraft jacks and hoists, test equipment, hand tools, power tools.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces aircraft avionics school or other schools with equivalent curriculum or three (3) years of on-the-job training and/or experience working with similar avionics systems and components is required.
Graduation from high school or GED required.
Must be able to meet any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.
Must have three (3) years of experience in aircraft electrical / avionics maintenance including avionics corrosion detection, treatment and prevention, performing maintenance on avionics and/ or electrical systems, utilizing tools, blue prints, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics and normal safety requirement.
Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend schematic diagrams, generate, sign off and order parts utilizing NALCOMIS OOMA/ VIDS/MAF OPNAV form 4790/60, utilize aircraft electrical/ avionics systems and applicable maintenance / technical manuals and publications.
Demonstrate a basic knowledge of aircraft systems and nomenclature.
Possess working knowledge and skill in the use of basic tools and test equipment.
Must be familiar with the operational capabilities and limitations of electrical / avionics systems.
Possess a working knowledge of the detection, prevention and treatment of corrosion.
Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.
Must obtain and keep current turn qualification.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires frequent climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing and reaching above shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 70 pounds.
Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requires hearing to normal range.
May require use of respirator.
Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that range from a standard shop/hangar type environment, where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sun, wind, rain, etc.
May be required to work in areas where noise hazards are prevalent.
Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery.
May be exposed to electrical shock hazard.
Work location is aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flight line.
May require travel in support of cross-country rescue and detachments of unknown duration.
