THE POSITION

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated leader to join our team as a Park Maintenance Supervisor 2. This permanent position offers the chance to oversee and inspire a crew of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance and trades staff while directing all facility maintenance and construction operations across the beautiful Cook Forest and Clear Creek State Park Complex.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Park Maintenance Supervisor 2, you will lead a diverse crew of maintenance and trades staff responsible for the construction, repair, and upkeep of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure throughout the Cook Forest and Clear Creek State Park Complex. You will plan, organize, and assign daily work; provide instruction on proper methods, safety practices, and equipment operation; and ensure all projects meet established standards. Your role includes overseeing purchasing and bids for materials, maintaining inventories, preparing sketches and cost estimates for maintenance and construction projects, and supervising the operation and care of park vehicles and heavy equipment. You will also manage employee performance, address grievances, approve leave, and ensure compliance with union agreements and safety regulations. Additional responsibilities include supervising water and sewage treatment operations, completing required reports, and serving as the park’s Right-to-Know and Safety Officer. This position may require work at both Cook Forest and Clear Creek State Parks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch.

  • Work may be scheduled on weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Park Maintenance Supervisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or

  • Five years of semi-skilled maintenance or construction experience in two of the following: electrical trades, plumbing trades, carpentry trades, mechanical trades, water or wastewater treatment plant operations, or the operation of small and medium size construction or agricultural equipment;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
