THE POSITION

Do you have what it takes to assist with identifying barriers to behavioral health service system improvements and developing strategies to address those barriers? In this Human Services Analyst position with our Bureau of Policy, Planning, and Program Development (BPPPD), you will serve as a Mental Health Programs Grant Planner, one of the lead staff directing and coordinating the application, administration, and monitoring of various federal grants, including the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant (CMHSBG), and other funding initiatives. This is a great opportunity to gain skills in grant administration, stakeholder engagement, and program management; further develop your business writing skills; and help advance improvements in Pennsylvania's behavioral health service system.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Mental Health Programs Grant Planner (Human Services Analyst), you will be a lead staff member in the management of federal grants and the development of behavioral health training. Using a high degree of initiative and critical thinking skills, you will manage responsibilities such as researching upcoming grants, applying for grants, developing county funding opportunities, and managing ongoing grant responsibilities. This includes monitoring grantees through both on-site visits and virtual meetings, developing training topics, vetting subject matter experts, reviewing training materials, and creating trainings in training software. These responsibilities are essential for supporting our Bureau’s effective collaboration with other state agencies, counties, federal agencies, and private agencies that provide services to individuals with behavioral health needs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week. You will be required to report to 303 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101, as listed in this posting, two days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional experience developing, implementing, or evaluating human services, social services, health care services, or health care insurance programs; and a bachelor’s degree;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional experience developing, implementing, or evaluating human services, social services, health care services, or health care insurance programs.
