THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. Int this role, you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 performs a variety of semi-skilled duties that support the maintenance, repair, and construction of game land infrastructure such as bridges, roads, parking areas, gates, signs, and public ranges. This position also assists with mowing, habitat management projects, and other field tasks essential to maintaining safe, accessible, and wildlife-friendly environments. Employees in this role work closely with field staff to ensure game lands remain in excellent condition for wildlife and the public. This is a hands-on, outdoor focused position for individuals who enjoy meaningful work that supports conservation and recreation across Pennsylvania.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment. 40 hours per week.

  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedules (AWS).

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment;or

  • One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment;or

  • One year of construction equipment operation experience;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

  • This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment in this job.

    Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
