BeOne Medicines Vice President, Head of Global Engineering in Pennington, New Jersey
The Vice President, Head of Global Engineering will be responsible for providing global leadership for the Engineering organization across BeOne network. This role will ensure successful implementation, execution, and maintenance of Capital Project Governance including but not limited to management reporting, cost management, project controls and risk management for all CAPEX projects of BeOne. This will include establishing the engineering organization to suit the emerging capital project needs for next decade and beyond, being an active and contributing member of the Technical Operations Leadership Team working closely with senior management in all matters of strategy and execution, and being a partner to all relevant functions within BeOne, including enabling functions: Finance, GTS, Human Resources, and Procurement.
The Vice President, Head of Global Engineering oversees all aspects of strategic, operational, and tactical project management to maintain a central capital project delivery of all capital projects, including Manufacturing facilities, R&D laboratories, and Office buildings.
This position is located at the Hopewell, NJ site with flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity when needed.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Lead the development and implementation of a capital project governance program to maximize capital project controls and ROI per current BeOne Capital Governance manual
Standing Member of CPRC (Capital Project Review Committee)
Strengthen Global Engineering team of Portfolio Management, Project Management, Project Engineering, and Project Controls
Champion to execute centralized capital project management processes and controls including management reporting, cost management, project controls and risks, R&Rs, and vendor selection
Manage Architecture & Engineering and Construction Management partnerships
Develop a long-range plan & annual operating budget and manage a system of controls, working closely with Finance and Procurement, to ensure service levels and operational performance goals of each capital project are met within prescribed cost, revenue, and profit parameters
Promote increased project monitoring through formalization and standardization of project controls
Provide leadership and coordination of activities among the business teams, sector management, staff functional groups, and manufacturing teams to ensure financial objectives are met
Communicate fully with business executives, staff team members, and plant personnel to ensure successful change management; provide routine and comprehensive updates on plan status with clear line of sight to cost and delivered benefits
Drive completion of identified business transformation initiatives by developing clear change strategies, dimensioning business impact/benefits, and overseeing implementation/execution
Ensure actions are consistent with regulatory standards and corporate policy
Support Responsible Business and Sustainability partnering with Global EHS and RBS)
Lead accountability for reliability and maintenance in the all the manufacturing operations by keeping consistency, monitoring, and best practice sharing.
Provide leadership to ensure the seamless coordination, execution and integration and establishment of a LEAN operating system by driving synergies (processes, resources, best practices) across regions and facilities
Provide leadership to fully leverage external, and internal, benchmarking and standardization within the organization
Establish a culture of continuous improvement (Lean, 6-sigma, etc)
Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people while fostering an environment that motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities to achieve desired business results
Streamline planning systems to eliminate redundancy, create scale and enable synergies from staff to the plant floor
Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results
Lead and coach team to drive high performance culture to accommodate rapid and dynamic growth with results in operational excellence and high employee engagement
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or technology field required
Minimum of 15+ years of experience within Engineering and Operations
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a director level role and above is required
Must have working knowledge of facilities, equipment, operations, and management
Experience with establishing capital project governance teams and management of governance framework for planning, delivering & tracking projects
Experience with developing and monitoring production strategies and performance metrics (KPIs)
Excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills
Strong Project Management skill required: Six Sigma and PMP certification is highly preferred
Strong Change Management skills and experience
Demonstrated negotiation and management leadership skills
Ability to build cross-functional partnerships, internal/external stakeholders, and engage in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives
Ability to discuss a wide range of topics from business strategy to the tactical execution of the strategy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with dynamic priorities and demands
Multi-lingual skills would be advantageous
