About the Role
The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, functionality, and appearance of KanPak’s buildings and surrounding grounds. This role involves skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and groundskeeping.
You’ll work with a high level of independence while coordinating closely with Engineering and Capital Project leadership to support food safety, regulatory compliance, and facility reliability.
What You’ll DoMain Functions:
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, roofs, siding, walls, flooring, and exterior surfaces
Complete interior and exterior painting projects as needed
Repair and patch flooring to maintain safe walking surfaces
Remove snow and apply salt to roadways, walkways, and access points
Perform minor electrical repairs, including:
Wall switches and outlets
Light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, and fuses
Minor appliances and cords
Perform minor plumbing repairs, including:
Fixing faucet and drain leaks
Unclogging drains
Trenching and laying small utility lines
Replace HVAC filters and clean exhaust fans
Responsibilities Related to the Job:
Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost, safety, and customer satisfaction at KanPak.
Participate in formulating and administering division’s short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth.
Equipment & Tools
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment
Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, mowers, loaders, and snow plows
Estimate time and materials needed for maintenance and repair tasks
Other Responsibilities
Work flexible hours as required to support facility needs
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information
Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned
What We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license (must be maintained)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of safe work practices
Preferred Experience
1+ year of building and grounds maintenance experience
Food manufacturing or food industry experience (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, drills, grinders, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
Experience operating forklifts and lift equipment
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable
Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and pride in work
The Schedule and Setting:
Pay Range (Base Pay): $22/hour
Days: Tuesday-Friday 10hr Shift or Monday-Thursday 10hr Shift
Shift: 6a-4p
Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to climb ladders and stairs
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods
Ability to distinguish colors, sounds, and smells as required for safety and maintenance tasks
