Pender Community Hospital District Housekeeper (PRN) in Pender, Nebraska

Job Descriptions:

POSITION SUMMARY

Prepares soiled laundry for on-site cleaning or external service, ensuring sanitary linen is available throughout the facility in compliance with federal and state regulations and aligned with Pender Community Hospital's mission. Executes daily housekeeping tasks as directed by the Facilities Manager to uphold cleanliness, safety, and comfort standards that reflect the hospital's philosophy and objectives, following current federal, state, and local guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sorts laundry according to color and fabric, handles and treats soiled items according to policy and procedure

  • Washes clothes in appropriate washer depending on type with appropriate amount of laundry supplies

  • Folds all clean laundry in a neat manner

  • Sets aside linen that is stained or torn to discuss next steps with manager or makes simple repairs to linen, as instructed

  • Sorts linen for appropriate departments as necessary and delivers clean laundry to the appropriate areas on a regular schedule or as needed

  • Keeps work area neat and uncluttered through weekly cleaning including emptying lint from dryers twice daily and takes trash out daily

  • Coordinate daily housekeeping tasks with nursing services

  • Clean patient rooms, furnishings, work/supply carts, equipment and common areas

  • Cleans, washes, sanitizes and/or polishes bathroom fixtures in all areas. Ensures that all water marks are removed from fixtures

  • Cleans carpets, to include spot stain removal, vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing and disinfecting

  • Cleans walls and ceiling by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing

  • Removes dirt, dust, grease, film, from all surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions

  • Discards waste/trash into proper containers and re-line trash receptacle with plastic liners

  • Performs isolation cleaning procedures in accordance with established infection control policies and procedures

  • Cleans assigned rooms and areas. Cleans/polishes furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units in resident/patient rooms and all other areas daily, including beds and furniture

  • Cleans windows and mirrors in resident/patient rooms and all other areas

  • Cleans floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting

  • Maintain sufficient housekeeping supplies

  • Train new employees on cleaning procedures

  • Uses good time management skills to ensure everything gets done and to allow time for routine and extra projects

  • Ensure adherence to infection control practices

  • Promptly report hazards and incidents

  • Perform thorough cleaning of surfaces, fixtures, floors, and carpets using appropriate methods

  • Follow cleaning schedules meticulously

  • Maintain hazard-free work areas and proper storage of equipment, Coordinates daily housekeeping

  • Assures that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and the end of the work day

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Hours: 8 hours/shift, as needed Monday-Friday and weekends, 7:00am-3:30pm

Required Experience:

Education, Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prior laundry experience preferred

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License
