Looking for an opportunity to help establish a CBC station in Peel region and engage with new audiences as a host and video storyteller?

CBC is opening a new station in Peel region, and we’re hiring a host to help connect audiences to the news they need to know, the stories that affect their lives and the issues that resonate in their communities.

As an experienced editorial leader and dynamic on-air presenter, you will be an active contributor to the video journalism produced by the Peel station. You will write and host headlines packages for our digital, social and streaming platforms, you will create, package and produce video stories and interviews, and you will report on news and updates as they are happening, from both the newsroom and the field.

You are comfortable going on the air at any time, reacting to breaking news and changing events, updating and adapting as needed. You enjoy being in front of the camera and are excited to explore new types of video treatments and programming in order to provide the audience with the diversity of news content they are looking for.

You are an insatiably curious storyteller with a passion for drawing information, emotion and stories out of people. You have an eclectic range of interests and are equally comfortable holding a politician accountable as you are chatting with children.

You have a sense of adventure and a keen desire to meet new people, learn other perspectives and be out in the community. You are passionate about the Peel region, and its diversity of people and viewpoints. Under the direction of the executive producer, you will initiate outreach to key community members and organizations. You have a strong desire to give audiences knowledge, insight and a deeper understanding about their community, and you champion stories from under-represented communities. You are comfortable listening to and engaging with people who have different viewpoints, and welcome opportunities to challenge the status quo and confront bias.

You will play a key role in helping us grow audiences, whether that’s through public appearances or by contributing to and appearing on CBC programming across platforms.

You will ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve.

This position will generally be scheduled Monday through Friday. Flexibility to work other shifts times and days will be required.

This role requires full-time, on-site presence.
