Job Title: Nurse Aide

 

Location: Simpson General Hospital -- Mendenhall, MS

 

Status: Full Time | Rotating Weekends | 12-hour shifts | 7:00pm-7:00am

 

Reports To: RN Supervisor / Director of Nursing

 

About the Role:

We are seeking compassionate and dependable Nurse Aides-both certified and nonâcertified-to join our GeriâPsych team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the physical and emotional wellâbeing of our patients through highâquality, patientâcentered care.

Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with daily living needs, including bathing, eating, oral care, hair care/shampooing, shaving, ambulating, and dressing.

Support patient admission and discharge processes.

Lead activity therapy group sessions under the direction of the Activity Coordinator, completing all required documentation.

Assist with therapy treatments as directed and monitor patient attendance in program activities and treatment modalities.

Take, monitor, record, and report vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, Oâ saturation, blood pressure) and identify abnormal ranges per departmental guidelines.

Develop nurturing and therapeutic relationships with patients, including oneâonâone interactions.

Assist with delivery and pickup of food trays; help prepare meals, serve trays, place bibs, feed patients, and cut or mash food as needed.

Respond to call lights and determine when additional assistance is required.

Perform light housekeeping in patient rooms, including making beds and emptying bedpans.

Observe and report changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional conditions.

Report abnormal changes or patterns to nursing staff promptly.

Obtain, record, and report fluid intake and output as directed.

Observe and report pressure areas to aid in preventing bed sores.

Ensure bedbound patients receive proper toileting, comfort positioning, and turning as directed.

Perform routine and PRN linen changes.

Assist patients in preparing for diagnostic tests, Xârays, therapy, activities, and physician visits; provide transportation as needed.

Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.

Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Attend inâservice education programs and onâtheâjob training as scheduled.

Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, family, and staff information.

Demonstrate understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the nursing field.

May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required

Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) encouraged to apply.

NonâCertified applicants with a passion for patient care will also be considered; training available.

Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to provide compassionate, patientâcentered care in a therapeutic environment.

Ability to work irregular hours as required.
