Patchogue-Medford School District Secondary Social Studies Teacher in Patchogue, New York

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and utilize various curriculum resources to create objective-based lessons aligned to current NYS learning standards.

  • Actively engage students in the delivery of high-quality instruction.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of all students.

  • Utilize data to inform instructional decisions.

  • Establish a supportive classroom environment that provides for the social-emotional learning of all students.

  • Grade student work and maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and grades.

  • Effectively communicate with parents and students regarding academic progress.

  • Attend required meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

  • Provide instruction that reflects the diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

  • Collaborate with special education and ENL teachers to ensure supports, accommodations, and modifications are effectively delivered.

  • Design formative and summative assessments aligned to state standards to monitor student understanding and guide instructional planning.

  • Integrate literacy skills—including close reading, evidence-based writing, and disciplinary vocabulary—into daily instruction to support student success across content areas.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must hold valid New York State Certification in Social Studies
