Job Description

Hull Welder Apprentices will complete a 3,000 hour program designed to give maximum exposure to many different welding processes used to weld hull systems aboard naval vessel(s). The apprentice will receive special training in various areas to learn fundamental skills and techniques. The apprentice will attend a hull welding pre-training and certification course during the first several weeks of employment in order to attain basic competency skills to perform the job. During the 18 month program, the apprentice will lean how to weld structure in various positions using the SMAW and FCAW processes as well as other methods. An Apprentice receives on-the-job training through a series of rotations in weld shop(s), build area, integrate area and waterfront area. Candidates must pass a series of practical welding assignments on various base materials in order to retain the position and progress in a satisfactory manner.

Basic Qualifications

Must be a high school graduate or GED completion. Must provide the following information before an interview can be scheduled: - High school or GED transcript. (A diploma is not acceptable) - College or vocational transcripts or certificates - DD214 if former military
