California Institute of Technology Postdoc: High-Performance Atomic Clocks in Pasadena, California

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental research on atomic and ion-based clocks, including the design and operation of compact vacuum systems

  • Develop and implement precision measurement protocols to improve atomic clock performance

  • Collaborate with JPL scientists to integrate new clock technologies into ongoing mission campaigns

  • Document experimental procedures and maintain reproducible data and analysis records

  • Lead peer-reviewed publications and present research findings at scientific conferences

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Optics, or a related field

  • Strong experimental expertise in quantum optics, atomic, and ion-based clocks

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and operating compact vacuum systems

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The appointee will carry out research in collaboration withJPL advisor,

resulting in publications in the open literature.

by NASA. Postdoc positions are awarded for a minimum of one-year period and may be renewed up to a maximum of three years.
