Job Title: Behavioral Technician (School-Based)

Location: Pasadena, CA

Setting: K–12 School Environment

Schedule: School hours | Academic-year based

Position Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (based on assignment)

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Behavioral Technician to support students in a school-based setting in the Pasadena area. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in education, psychology, special education, or applied behavior analysis (ABA) and who are passionate about making a meaningful impact on students’ academic, social, and behavioral success.

Behavioral Technicians work directly with students receiving special education services, implementing behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), school psychologist, or special education team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with behavioral, social-emotional, and academic needs in classroom and school-based environments

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and instructional strategies aligned with IEPs or 504 Plans

  • Collect and document behavioral data accurately and consistently

  • Collaborate closely with special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers

  • Assist students with developing positive behavior, communication, social, and self-regulation skills

  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Follow school policies, confidentiality requirements, and ethical guidelines

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)

  • College coursework or degree in Education, Psychology, Child Development, Special Education, or related field (preferred)

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in school, educational, or clinical settings (preferred)

  • Familiarity with ABA principles, classroom behavior management, or special education practices is a plus

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

Requirements

  • Ability to pass background check and TB clearance in accordance with California school district requirements

  • Physical ability to support students as needed (standing, walking, light lifting, etc.)

  • Willingness to complete required training and ongoing professional development

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
