Actalent Embedded Software Engineer in PARSIPPANY TROY HILLS, New Jersey

Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerJob Description

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and test embedded software, including requirements analysis, architecture design, and implementation. You will write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code in languages such as C, C++, C#, and Python, and debug software issues using various tools and techniques. Your role includes developing and executing software verification and validation plans, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, systems engineering, and test engineering, to ensure software compatibility and system integration. Additionally, you will maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including software design documents, test plans, and user manuals, and manage software configuration using version control systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, such as DO-178C and DO-254.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software.

  • Perform requirements analysis, architecture design, and implementation.

  • Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code in C, C++, C#, and Python.

  • Debug software issues using various tools and techniques.

  • Develop and execute software verification and validation plans.

  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for software compatibility and system integration.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including software design documents, test plans, and user manuals.

  • Manage software configuration using version control systems.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience using C for embedded application development.

  • Strong debugging and analysis skills.

  • Experience with formal Software Development Lifecycle process (SDLC).

  • Strong documentation and writing skills.

  • Experience developing software tests and performing software verification.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs, and assembly language.

  • Experience debugging embedded systems using JTAG and emulators.

  • Software architecture and design experience.

  • Experience in code optimization and profiling.

  • Familiarity with coding standards such as MISRA C.

  • Familiarity with code coverage and analysis tools such as Coverity and LDRA.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work closely with a team of engineers and technicians.

  • Comfortable in a laboratory environment.

  • 2+ to 7+ years of relevant experience.

Work Environment

This position requires in-person work at the Parsippany office with a 5-day onsite schedule of 8-hour days. No remote or hybrid flexibility is available. Enjoy working in a fast-growing aerospace company with opportunities for growth and impact. Flexible work schedule options include working four 10-hour days Monday through Thursday with every Friday off, or four 9-hour days Monday through Thursday and working 4 hours on Friday, leaving at noon.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $67.30/hr.
