Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Parsippany, New Jersey
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Administrator to manage bi-weekly, multi-state payroll operations for a dynamic and growing organization in Parsippany, New Jersey. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and take ownership of payroll processes while collaborating with HR and Accounting teams. The role also provides exposure to accounting, compliance, and system optimization, making it ideal for professionals eager to broaden their expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Process bi-weekly payroll across multiple states for hourly, salaried, and contract employees.
• Ensure the accuracy of timekeeping and attendance data for various pay groups.
• Administer commissions, bonuses, garnishments, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Set up and maintain payroll tax accounts across different jurisdictions.
• Handle payroll tax filings, payments, and year-end processes such as W-2 preparation.
• Prepare payroll journal entries, perform reconciliations, and allocate labor costs.
• Generate payroll reports and assist with audits and system updates.
• Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams on workforce changes and special projects.
• Maintain compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements.
• Support the integration of payroll systems with general ledger processes. Requirements • Minimum of 3–5 years of payroll experience in a multi-entity, multi-state environment.
• Proven expertise in payroll tax compliance and account setup.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems, preferably UKG Pro or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of payroll accounting, including general ledger integrations and reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field is preferred.
• Certifications in payroll or HR (e.g., CPP, PHR) are advantageous.
• Familiarity with managing complex pay structures, including bonuses and commissions.
