Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Parsippany, New Jersey

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Parsippany, New Jersey. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key part in processing payroll for a multi-entity organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position offers the opportunity to work on-site four days a week initially, transitioning to three days on-site as the role progresses.

Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly payroll for employees and independent contractors across multiple states and entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Validate time and attendance records while providing training and support to managers and employees as needed.

• Research and process employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings in accordance with applicable laws.

• Manage payroll exceptions, including commissions, bonuses, and expense reports, while ensuring accurate and timely processing.

• Set up and maintain payroll tax accounts for new entities, including registrations for federal, state, and local requirements.

• Coordinate with the Accounting team to ensure timely payroll tax filings and payments.

• Process employee lifecycle changes, such as new team members, terminations, and pay adjustments, and generate summary reports for management.

• Reconcile payroll general ledger integrations to ensure accurate labor cost allocations and compliance with accounting standards.

• Oversee the preparation and distribution of annual W-2s and 1099s.

• Stay informed of changes in employment tax laws and ensure updates are reflected in payroll processes. Requirements • At least 3-5 years of payroll experience in a multi-entity corporate environment.

• Minimum 3 years of experience managing payroll systems, with UKG Pro preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of payroll tax compliance, account setup, and reporting requirements.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger integrations related to payroll.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

• Familiarity with HR and Accounting system integrations and data management.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to perform essential job duties on-site as required.
