Job Title: Senior Director of Facilities Operations and Security Job Description

As our Senior Director of Facilities Operations and Security, you will influence far more than security; you will help drive the operational backbone that keeps our mission moving forward. In this high-impact position, you will lead a regional security organization while serving as a key member of our Facilities, Infrastructure & Safety leadership team. You will oversee complex, high-stakes operations, partner across disciplines, and elevate performance through sharp operational judgment and tech-forward thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a professional liaison with local, University, State, and Federal law enforcement and life safety agencies.

  • Collaborate with Nursing Administration, Patient Relations, and other departments as necessary to determine security and maintenance needs for various patient and clinical care units and programs.

  • Create internal guidelines and procedures that are directly responsive to the organization’s needs.

  • Direct all investigations involving possible criminal activity on the part of staff with Human Resources and Risk Management.

  • Evaluate security and maintenance programs to ensure consistency with current regulatory and national standards in training, procedures, and systems.

  • Prepare long-range security and maintenance plans that address changes in the physical plant, types of medical services provided, facility accessibility, improved systems technology, staffing levels, and other pertinent factors.

  • Review all building plans and make recommendations on security issues such as accessibility, CCTV, lighting, landscaping, and other needs.

  • Serve as an active member of several committees such as the Safety Committee, Disaster Committee, and various other committees and task forces.

  • Key point of contact for regulatory surveys and regulatory requirement compliance.

  • Integrate, standardize, and optimize maintenance and repair teams across multiple locations.

  • Set vision and hold accountable the Maintenance & Repair department in responding, executing, and documenting work orders within the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS).

  • Partner with the System Engineering and Resource Management teams to problem-solve and continuously improve the EAMS.

  • Partner with Environment of Care Subcommittees to oversee execution of asset management and utility initiatives.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university, or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • Fifteen years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

  • Ability to develop long-range business plans and strategies.

  • Ability to establish strategic direction and business plans for a functional group.

  • Ability to manage complex projects and resources (people, costs, time).

  • Ability to mediate and resolve complex problems and issues.

  • Ability to provide leadership and influence others.

  • Ability to research and interpret relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.

  • Ability to strategize, plan and implement change.

  • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader.

  • Knowledge of security services policies, procedures, and operational facilities.

  • Knowledge of police/law enforcement procedures and techniques.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of organization, administration, fiscal, and personnel management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • California Driver's License - Valid and In State.

Work Environment

The Senior Director will oversee a team of three Security Directors as well as 200+ Security Professionals. This role involves working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on strategic planning and operational excellence.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palo Alto, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $132.00/hr.
