Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences is currently looking to hire an Inpatient Coding Specialist II for Sacramento ,CA location .

Location: Sacramento, CA 94239

Shift hours -8am to 5pm (M-F)

Pay - 30/HR -40/HR

Job Summary

The Inpatient Coding Specialist II reviews medical record documentation and assigns accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient services. This role ensures proper assignment of MS-DRG/APR-DRG, supports revenue cycle accuracy, and maintains compliance with federal and state coding regulations, AHIMA standards, and AHA Coding Clinic guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review inpatient medical records and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.

  • Ensure accurate assignment of MS-DRG/APR-DRG, discharge disposition, admission source, and POA indicators.

  • Abstract required data elements from patient records per facility standards.

  • Monitor Discharged Not Billed (DNB) accounts to ensure timely billing.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS) and medical staff to improve documentation accuracy.

  • Maintain coding productivity and quality standards.

  • Stay current with CMS regulations, CCI edits, HACs, PSIs, NCDs, and LCDs.

  • Utilize coding tools including Epic, 3M Encoder, 3M CDIS, 3M Audit Expert, and MS Office.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Coder Proficiency Exam (pre-hire).

  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and DRG grouping.

  • Experience reviewing and abstracting medical record documentation.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and disease processes.

  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet productivity standards.

Certifications (Required)

One of the following:

  • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator

  • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician

  • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist

Pay Details: $30.00 to $40.00 per hour
