Job Title: Electronics Engineering Technician – Project-Based
Job Description
This project-based Electronics Engineering Technician role supports a short-term electronics assembly effort in the Melbourne, FL area. You will assemble, integrate, and install electronic hardware as part of a small production run with a firm delivery timeline. Working closely with engineering and test personnel, you will perform hands-on electronics assembly, rework, and box build activities to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery of 6–9 complex electronic boards and associated hardware.
Responsibilities
Assemble 6–9 electronic printed circuit boards using a combination of pick-and-place operations and precise hand placement of components, including BGAs.
Perform high-quality soldering on through-hole and surface-mount components, including fine-pitch devices, in accordance with workmanship standards.
Add and route white wires for debugging, rework, and design modifications as required.
Assemble electronic boxes and subassemblies, ensuring proper fit, connections, and labeling.
Mount completed electronic boxes into final units, verifying mechanical alignment and electrical connectivity.
Follow detailed build instructions, diagrams, schematics, assembly drawings, and work instructions throughout the assembly process.
Apply IPC 610 workmanship standards and best practices during soldering, rework, and inspection activities.
Use basic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and related test tools to support debug and verification tasks.
Collaborate closely with engineering and test personnel during assembly and debug phases to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Support low-volume or prototype build activities, adapting to design changes and evolving requirements.
Work independently to meet schedule commitments and support completion of the project within the defined timeline.
Maintain a high level of attention to detail, quality, and documentation throughout all build and integration activities.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with electronics assembly in a lab or production environment.
Strong soldering skills, including fine-pitch surface-mount and through-hole components.
Experience working with BGAs, including placement, rework, or inspection.
Ability to install and route white wires for debugging, rework, and modifications.
Comfort with box build activities and final system integration.
Ability to read and follow build instructions, diagrams, and workmanship standards.
Capability to work independently while meeting aggressive schedule commitments.
High attention to detail, quality, and consistency in assembly and rework tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience supporting low-volume or prototype electronics builds.
Familiarity with reading schematics, assembly drawings, and detailed work instructions.
Background in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability electronics environments.
Knowledge of IPC 610 standards and application of IPC-compliant workmanship.
Experience using oscilloscopes and basic electronic test equipment for debug and verification.
Exposure to SMT, PCB assembly, and electronics repair or rework processes.
Ability to support design and debug activities in collaboration with engineering teams.
Work Environment
This role is fully onsite in a lab environment in the Palm Bay / Melbourne, FL area. You will work in an electronics lab and light production setting that supports low-volume, high-reliability builds, using tools such as soldering stations, pick-and-place equipment, microscopes, oscilloscopes, and standard electronic test instruments. The work centers on a short-term project with a firm delivery timeline, so you can expect a focused, schedule-driven environment with close collaboration between technicians, engineers, and test personnel. Dress is typical for a hands-on lab and light manufacturing environment, suitable for working with electronic hardware and lab equipment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
