Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

The Assembly Technician operates and maintains small production equipment in a controlled cleanroom environment to produce high-quality medical device products. This role focuses on precise small-component assembly, light soldering, inspection, and packaging while following strict documentation, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain small production equipment safely and efficiently to support high-quality medical device manufacturing.

  • Perform small component assembly under a microscope, including light soldering, to meet product specifications.

  • Carry out component assembly, in-process inspection, and final inspection in accordance with documented procedures and QA standards.

  • Meet all documentation requirements for the production process, including accurately filing paperwork and records associated with assemblies and finished products.

  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly follow cleanroom protocols and GMP regulations.

  • Perform all production processes for products, including forming, cutting, punching, assembly, packaging, and sealing, once trained.

  • Inspect, evaluate, and accept products based on documented quality standards and procedures, identifying and reporting any defects or non-conformances.

  • Work with robotics and other production machines in the cleanroom to support efficient and consistent manufacturing.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to correctly assemble and inspect products.

  • Handle small parts and delicate components with a high degree of manual and hand dexterity.

  • Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth workflow and support a cohesive, productive team environment.

  • Work independently, stay productive without constant supervision, and take ownership of completing assigned tasks on time.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in assembly, production, machine operation, or general manufacturing, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment.

  • Proficiency in small-component assembly with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom environment and follow GMP regulations and cleanroom protocols.

  • Strong documentation skills, including accurately completing and filing production paperwork and records.

  • Manual dexterity and hand dexterity for handling small parts, detailed assembly, and light soldering.

  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and quality standards.

  • Comfort using microscopes for inspection and assembly of small components.

  • Capability to work independently, stay focused, and maintain productivity without direct oversight.

  • Mechanical aptitude to work with hands-on assembly tasks and production equipment.

  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a production operator, machine operator, assembler, or similar manufacturing role.

  • Familiarity with IPC and J-STD standards for soldering and electronic assembly a plus.

  • Experience with packaging machinery and deburring processes.

  • Ability to operate and monitor production and robotics equipment in a cleanroom setting.

  • Experience with quality inspection and acceptance of products against documented QA procedures.

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to integrate well with a hardworking, collaborative team.

  • Reliable work ethic and a proactive, self-motivated approach to learning new tasks and processes.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with dedicated cleanroom areas. The environment requires adherence to GMP regulations and cleanroom protocols at all times. The standard schedule is a first-shift role, typically 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional adjustments such as a 4:00 a.m. to noon shift on Fridays to allow for an earlier end to the week. The team culture emphasizes cooperation, reliability, and maintaining a smooth, efficient workflow.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of OWINGS MILLS, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
