Duke Energy is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented RRE Work Management Specialist to support operations at the Gibson Station. This position provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of work activities performed by supplemental and contract personnel within plant operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in work planning and scheduling, safety compliance, and contractor management, along with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, plant environment.Key Responsibilities
Must have the ability to be respirator qualified
Provide daily leadership and coordination for supplemental and variable contractor resources, including job assignments, work planning, quality assurance, and accounting management
Deliver direct field oversight and job coordination for contractor crews at the generating and coal gasification facility.
Review, interpret, and direct work based on written work orders and documented job plans.
Follow and effectively apply written technical procedures to ensure safe and efficient task execution.
Evaluate proposed job plans and safety mitigation plans; provide critical feedback and revisions to ensure alignment with Duke Energy safety standards and procedures.
Maintain weekly schedule adherence for assigned contract crews and communicate progress updates to leadership.
Manage and organize large work scopes or assigned projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
Respond to emergent work needs, including availability for overtime, weekends, holidays, and occasional night shifts as required.
Partner with contractor crew leadership to communicate daily job plans and work schedules, manage station budgets, daily accounting, and time ticket approvals, Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities, and to address and resolve performance-related issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Associates degree AND 3 years minimum required related work experience
In lieu of degree and experience listed above, Highschool/GED AND 7 years of minimum required related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of power plant operations and the Work Management process
Working knowledge of company computer systems/programs that are utilized in the Work Management process
Proficient in Maximo or computer-based Maintenance Management Systems
Must be able to read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make sound decisions
Experience and demonstrated computer skills including the ability to use various applications such as Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), work management system (Maximo), Plant Information (PI) program
Experience and demonstrated written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others
Working Conditions
Performs work in a power plant and an office environment
Required to observe work in all areas of generating facilities which are power plant, industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust and humidity
May be required to climb ladders and stairs at various heights; enter vessels or equipment with limited access; walk, stoop, bend or squat
Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use and reach with hands, arms and fingers
There is potential exposure to high stress situations and requirement to be available for emergency response as required by the needs of service
