As an Auto Test Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting automotive engineers through the testing of prototype designs. You will utilize various diagnostic and testing equipment to ensure the quality of automotive products. Your expertise in vehicle mechanical fundamentals and emerging technologies will drive improvements in the design process.
Responsibilities
Support automotive engineers by testing prototype designs.
Utilize o-scopes, automotive bus analyzers, diagnostic equipment, and gas analysis equipment for quality assurance.
Apply knowledge of vehicle mechanical fundamentals to validate designs.
Research and apply new technologies to enhance the design process.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in using automotive test equipment, including lifts, hand tools, power tools, and air tools.
PC application skills, including Access and shop management software (I-shop).
PC configuration and installation skills.
Ability to read and interpret schematics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to effectively use general and specialized test equipment, such as o-scopes and bus analyzers.
Ability to follow and understand detailed test procedures.
Demonstrated self-starter with mechanical and electrical abilities.
Two-year associate degree in automotive technology or equivalent training/experience.
Knowledge of fundamental automotive technologies and basic vehicle systems, including on-board controls, engine performance, transmission, ABS, and SIR modules.
Preferred: Minimum of 2 years previous experience.
Preferred certifications or affiliations: ASE, IATN, or SAE.
Work Environment
Work in a dynamic testing shop environment, often resembling an automotive dealership setting. The position involves hands-on testing, repair, and troubleshooting activities.

This is a Permanent position based out of Owatonna, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
