The Opportunity
Our Environmental Planning (EP) team is evolving in Ontario, and we want to hear from you! Reporting to the VP of Environmental Planning in Ontario, the role will provide dedicated strategic support to Environmental Planning services, markets and initiatives under E&E and within our Ontario Region. This position will support WSP’s ambitions to drive topline growth within the Environmental Planning, with emphasis around development of key markets and clients.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Environmental leadership in Environmental Planning. You will also be responsible for the implementation of business development strategies within the region for our key markets of Industry, Energy & Power, Municipal Government, Defence and others.
To be successful in this role, you will be market-growth-focused, have a strong, existing relationship and network with the infrastructure, energy or environmental industry, and posses outstanding team building skills. The leader’s ability to develop industry partnerships to positively promote successful project related results will also be critical. You must maintain a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and excellent project management, time management and communication skills. Your strongest assets will need to be the ability to promote collaboration and drive strategic goals, lead by example, develop staff, and build teams with positive organizational health.

Support the development of the business development strategy
Execution of the business strategic growth initiatives for Environmental Planning disciplines in Ontario, which includes leading key client accounts and developing partnerships.
Monthly reporting on positioning for opportunities, pipeline pursuits, major wins and losses (including debriefs)
Overseeing the assembly of qualifications within the Environmental Planning discipline, as needed to support our business development efforts
Coordination and/or attendance at key industry events in coordination with applicable internal stakeholders
Lead capture management planning towards the successful submission of large/complex technical and financial proposals, acting as Bid Manager, when necessary
Overseeing the creation and application of proposal development tools, evaluation criteria, standardized content and templates, including capture and pre-positioning plans, proposal bidding tools, proposal reporting and tracking tools, and others
Supporting the strategy, input and maintenance of E&E pursuit pipeline of opportunities for the business regionally, as well as nationally in specificized markets
Together with the proposals team and sector leadership, manage internal intelligence such as history with clients, for proposal and partnering decisions and strategy
Review trends, and feedback from market at large to maximize opportunities for emerging client priorities
Builds relationships with key clients in Ontario, related industry organizations, teaming partners, and stakeholders to identify opportunities and growth for the business
Provides leadership by communicating the business development budgets and targets, by engaging the Environmental Planning team in achieving the objectives
Collaborates with peers across provincially, nationally and in other geographies to leverage expertise, ensure client management satisfaction and implement best practices and promote OneWSP
Partner with Marketing, Communication, PR and other support services on corporate initiatives
Visibly champions the HSE and ethics and compliance programs to ensure they are an overriding part of the organizational culture

Skills That Set You Apart
Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in engineering, sciences, business, marketing, communications, or related disciplines
French language skillsets desirable but not required
7 to 10 years’ relevant experience related to business development and business growth
Experience in the development and execution of business development strategy
Experience with industry committees, boards and special interests;
Experience leading a team with excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment, working towards common goals and objectives.
Superb team player able to excel in a multi-task, deadline-driven environment
Project Management skills (prioritizing, scheduling, follow up, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)Attention to detail and excellent proofreading/grammar skills
Experience in the professional services consulting industry (engineering and sciences an asset), with an emphasis on proposal management and/or writing is ideal
Experience working with both internal and external client groups, and teams
Comfortable working and interacting at all levels in a multidisciplinary environment

Compensation
AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $162,200 – $212,200
MB & ON: $148,000 – $198,000
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $146,500 – $194,600
