Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect to lead complex building projects in our Ottawa office. This is a key leadership role in our established multidisciplinary and growing team, focused on Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB) for both the public and private sector clients.

  • Lead architectural design and project delivery on Alternative Delivery projects

  • Serve as the primary client interface, managing expectations and building strong relationships

  • Provide strategic oversight for multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring design intent is realized from concept through construction

  • Prepare and review design documentation, construction details, specifications, and cost estimates

  • Mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership within the team

  • Collaborate with internal and external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders

  • Contribute to business development, proposals, and project planning initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and established architectural standards

  • Lead projects through all phases of delivery (pre-design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents)

  • Manage consultant coordination, schedules, and deliverables under tight deadlines

  • Prepare and coordinate the development of reports, drawings, specifications, and presentation materials

  • Manage client relationships and participate in or facilitate meetings with clients, stakeholders, and end users

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture

  • Licensed Architect with the OAA, or licensed in another province with eligibility to obtain OAA licensure

  • 6+ years of experience on complex building projects

  • Proven experience with Alternative Delivery models (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB)

  • Proficiency in Revit

  • Client-facing experience with strong communication and presentation skills

  • Eligible for security clearance(s)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience on complex building projects

  • Experience with Federal or Defense projects

  • Strong knowledge of the National Building Code and Ontario Building Code, as well as building systems

  • Experience in project management for large-scale projects

  • High level of proficiency in Revit, with working knowledge of AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, and visualization tools such as Enscape and V-Ray

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam

  • Experience with permitting and approvals processes in Canadian municipalities

  • Ability to lead design workshops, engage with end-users, and deliver client presentations

  • French is considered an asset

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $95000 to $140000.
