Acosta Group Director, Client Development in Ottawa, Ontario

DESCRIPTION

As a Director, Client Development , you will play a pivotal role in driving profitable growth by serving as a trusted strategic partner to our clients. This is a highly visible, client‑facing leadership role responsible for strengthening executive relationships, shaping business strategies, and expanding enterprise solutions that deliver measurable results for both our clients and Acosta.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You’ll Do

  • Own and grow senior‑level client relationships , serving as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned accounts.

  • Influence client strategies, objectives, and long‑term plans by identifying business challenges, shaping opportunities, and delivering innovative, value‑driven solutions.

  • Drive revenue growth and profitability by exceeding client KPIs, expanding Acosta enterprise services, and consistently maintaining a strong pipeline of business.

  • Lead strategic planning and execution , translating annual sales plans into actionable initiatives aligned to clients’ top priorities and performance metrics.

  • Partner with executive stakeholders to understand client goals, funding opportunities, and organizational roadmaps, while aligning Acosta capabilities to meet and exceed expectations.

  • Develop and deliver compelling proposals and presentations that support new and ongoing client engagements and advance the sales cycle.

  • Identify and secure funding opportunities through brand or trade investments to activate consumer initiatives that create mutual value.

  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless execution of client strategies, from concept through delivery.

  • Own overall client performance , holding accountability for results, financial outcomes, and long‑term partnership success.

  • Drive internal financial management processes , with a focus on profitable growth and incremental service expansion.

  • Balance and prioritize competing demands across retailers, manufacturers, and internal stakeholders while influencing teams for results.

QUALIFICATIONS

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required , preferably in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry , with demonstrated success in Sales, Marketing, Insights, or Client Development roles.

  • 2+ years of leadership experience within Acosta , such as CBM, Department Manager, Team Leader, or VP‑level roles, with a proven ability to influence outcomes through others.

  • Experience working across multiple functional areas , collaborating effectively with sales, marketing, insights, finance, and operations teams.

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen , including experience managing budgets, assessing ROI, and driving profitable growth.

  • Demonstrated excellence in Client Development core competencies , including interpersonal effectiveness, analytical thinking, and achievement orientation.

  • Deep understanding of customer and client ecosystems , including strategies, organizational structures, operations, shopper behavior, and best practices.

  • Executive presence and communication skills , with the ability to present confidently, influence senior stakeholders, and negotiate complex solutions.

  • Highly self‑motivated and results‑driven , with strong leadership, accountability, and a proactive mindset.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously , balancing retailer, manufacturer, and internal Acosta needs while driving alignment and results.

  • Creative, assertive, and collaborative leadership style , paired with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office , particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and related tools preferred.
