All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform the work described in the job order and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in Section A. Box 3 & 4. This work order is for qualified people to perform a combination of tasks involved in the operation of the farm. Workers will drive and operate specific farm machines to grow tree fruits including pears and apples, will drive and/or operate harvesting machines. Workers will attach implements and drive tractors with instruments attached to fields for cultivating, discing, and planting apple or pear trees. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport work. Workers must be able to lift and carry up to 80 poundskers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid drivers license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. Workers must be able to operate agricultural equipment safely, may use hand tools such as but not limited to: shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, hand saws, and knives. Workers will prune, thin trees such as apple, peach & pear. Performing light summer pruning and suckering by cutting terminal growth and water sprouts from inside of tree using hand pruner, thin trees from orchard to eliminate diseased /non-productive trees using chain saw. The work assigned will be physically demanding, bending, stooping and kneeling for long periods of time will be required. Workers must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds frequently. Workers will harvest fruits, apples and pears. Apples injured by bruising during picking shall not exceed 1% (WNY) for fresh and 1% (WNY) for processing. Productivity must be at least 6 Bins (120 bushels) fresh market and/or 8 Bins (160 bushels) processing fruit per day. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothing. Field temperatures may range from 0 to 90+ degrees (F) with possible wet morning conditions. Due to health and safety concerns relating to the operation of equipment on our farm, workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple instructions in English. Workers referred to in this order must have a minimum of 3 months experience. Workers must be available to work 7-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm Monday through Friday and may be required to work 5-hour shifts between the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm on Saturday. Workers will be given a 30-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. Employers will notify workers of any change to the schedule. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. After hiring the employer may conduct random drug testing at the employers expense.

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Repetitive movements, extensive walking, extensive pushing/pulling and frequent stooping/bending.
  • After hiring the employer may conduct random drug testing at the employer's expense.
