Float Medical Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Assistant to join our team in Ormond Beach. As a Medical Assistant, you will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician. Your role will encompass both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. You will support clinicians and care management teams in assessing and maintaining chronic disease management. The position involves performing laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks, while working in offices to support either the MA role or a dedicated Lab station. This is a float role covering Daytona and New Smyrna areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing procedures and report results to healthcare clinicians.

  • Alert healthcare clinicians of any critical or out-of-range values and document critical reports.

  • Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.

  • Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.

  • Conduct and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.

  • Perform and document patient intake vitals such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate, and notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.

  • Interview patients based on age appropriateness and specialty needs, accurately documenting and updating medical records.

  • Obtain necessary medical records and diagnostic results for clinician review and treatment follow-up as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Medical assisting

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Patient care

  • Phlebotomy

  • Active and valid driver's license

  • MA Diploma/Certification or a minimum of 3 years MA experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with electronic health records and appointment scheduling

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification

  • Triage and pediatric care experience

  • Ability to educate patients and manage front desk operations

  • RMA certification

  • Bilingual abilities

  • Proficiency in blood draw and data entry

  • Experience with internal and family medicine

Work Environment

This is a patient-facing role that involves indoor work and operating computers. There may be exposure to hazards, and the position requires manual dexterity and the ability to reach outward and above the shoulder. The role involves lifting or carrying 10 lbs. or less, and requires sitting, walking, squatting, kneeling, or bending. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with up to two Saturdays a month from 8:00 am to 12:00 p

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33196.00 - $46883.00/yr.
