This full-time Pharmacy Filling Technician role in Orlando, FL focuses on accurately receiving, transcribing, and entering resident prescriptions into pharmacy systems, then filling, packaging, and preparing medications for shipment in a fast-paced long-term care pharmacy environment. The position emphasizes precise data entry, strong customer service, and consistent performance during later shifts while standing for extended periods.
Responsibilities
Receive resident prescriptions and verify the completeness and accuracy of prescription information.
Transcribe and enter prescription details into the pharmacy’s operating and data entry systems with a high level of accuracy.
Dispense medications according to prescription orders and established pharmacy procedures.
Fill, package, and label medications for shipment, ensuring correct drug, dosage, quantity, and patient information.
Prepare medication orders for long-term care residents, supporting timely and accurate delivery.
Follow all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to prescription handling and dispensing.
Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, orders, and fulfillment activities in the computer system.
Support customer service needs by responding professionally to internal and external inquiries related to prescriptions and orders.
Work efficiently in a fast-paced filling role, meeting daily volume and accuracy expectations.
Collaborate with pharmacy team members to maintain an organized, safe, and compliant work area.
Stand and move throughout the pharmacy for the majority of the shift while performing filling and packaging tasks.
Essential Skills
Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Registered Pharmacy Technician).
Pharmacy technician experience in a retail, long-term care, or similar pharmacy setting.
Proficiency in pharmacy data entry and order entry within pharmacy operating systems.
Strong computer skills for accurate and efficient use of pharmacy software.
Demonstrated ability to perform prescription intake, including reviewing and processing incoming prescriptions.
Experience with dispensing, filling, and fulfillment of prescription medications.
Customer service skills in a healthcare or pharmacy environment.
Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and remain physically active throughout the workday.
Comfort working later shifts and closing responsibilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential is highly beneficial.
Experience in a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy environment is a strong plus.
Background in retail pharmacy provides valuable transferable skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications and data entry.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple prescriptions and tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Effective communication skills to interact with pharmacy staff and support prescription-related inquiries.
Work Environment
This role is based in a fast-paced long-term care pharmacy with a primary focus on high-volume prescription filling and fulfillment. The work involves continuous use of pharmacy computer systems, data entry tools, and medication packaging equipment. The schedule for this full-time position follows a later, closing shift Monday through Friday, typically from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with rotating weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. approximately every 4–5 weeks. The position requires comfort working evening hours and the physical ability to stand and move for up to 8 hours per shift while performing filling and packaging tasks. The environment is structured, process-driven, and collaborative, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and timely preparation of medications for shipment to long-term care residents.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
