This position is accountable for repairing, installing, and inspecting electronics or electronic systems as directed through verbal or written directions, diagrams, drawings, or specifications. It also maintains and makes necessary operating adjustments to the organization's electronic systems. You’ll be planning, performing, and reporting on drivetrain (gearbox, main shaft, main bearing, generator bearings, etc.) inspections and repairs. This position is also accountable for troubleshooting for all components associated with the drivetrain (pumps, fans, sensors, etc.). 95% travel site-related is required. The mechanical specialist will interface with clients and manage small crews on a regular basis. This role position could report & assist O&M during periods of downtime or travel to assist other jobs within the Advanced Maintenance team. Heavy lifts, Major Campaigns and Blades.
How You’ll Make anImpact
Ability to work inconfined/enclosed spaces and be comfortable with heights
Inspections (borescope) ofdrivetrain components (main shaft + bearings, gearbox + gears + bearings).
Repairing, installing, andinspecting electronics or electronic systems as directed through verbal orwritten directions, diagrams, drawings, or specifications. It also maintainsand makes necessary operating adjustments to the organization's electronic systems
Performing DroneInspections
Gearbox repairs –high-speed bearings, high-speed shafts, intermediate-speed bearings, mechanicalpump
Assist in troubleshootingdrivetrain-related issues (pumps, sensors, brakes, cooling unit, filters, etc.)
Assist in large corrective(crane work) replacement of gearboxes and main shafts
Strong written and verbalcommunication skills to describe complex damages, participate in thepreparation of inspection and repair reports, and follow up on final resolution
Advanced knowledge ofmaintenance and electrical testing equipment for turbines
Test electrical componentsand systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems
Perform maintenance onwind turbine equipment, including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, andhydraulic malfunctions. Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
Assist the AdvancedMaintenance group with various projects, including large and small correctiveson a variety of components
Identify processimprovements, including reduction of non-value added operations, increasedproductivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc
Inspect, diagnose, adjust,and repair wind turbine components. Inspect the exterior and physical integrityof towers and blades.
Technician must be able towork within the maximum safety guidelines using personal protection equipment

Related Work Experience:2-4 Years – Required
Turbine trouble shooting(knowledge in electrical and hydraulic schematic readings)
Knowledge ofmechanical/electrical inspection techniques
FAA Part 107 License (Drone License)
Document inspectionrepairs and create reports
Microsoft Excel, Word.Ability to work from height for inspection or repairs
Use of borescope and Laseralignment tool - digital camera – set up and operation
May provide generalguidance to others and train lower level employees.
Must be willing to travelfor extended periods of time - up to 95%
Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with a clean driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks throughout employment with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.
