Actalent Manufacturing Engineer in Orlando, Florida

Description

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring that manufacturing operations are equipped with the appropriate tools, fixtures, processes, and documentation to safely and efficiently produce high‑quality products. This role requires strong attention to detail, a hands‑on problem‑solving mindset, and the ability to identify and resolve production issues and process inefficiencies in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical knowledge of cable assembly, PCB assembly, and mechanical assembly, along with a solid understanding of Lean manufacturing principles, product safety requirements, and IPC standards. Success in this role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional teams to support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and operational excellence.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and update work order routings and operational instructions to support manufacturing and rework requirements.

Maintain existing work instructions and lead the development and implementation of new or improved work instructions, manufacturing aids, tools, and processes within the manufacturing department.

Support external suppliers by addressing outsourced processing issues and driving process improvements related to fabricated parts and assemblies.

Support Project Management by participating in labor estimations and manufacturing input for new and existing customer proposals.

Interface with Quality and Inventory Control to resolve nonconforming material issues affecting production hardware.

Collaborate with design engineering teams to review drawings for manufacturability, and recommend design changes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance product quality.

Analyze and optimize the layout and flow of machines, materials, and personnel to improve manufacturing efficiency and throughput.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction while maintaining product safety and quality standards.

Investigate and resolve manufacturing quality issues through root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Develop and implement testing, inspection, and validation procedures to support manufacturing operations.

Select and procure tools, equipment, and machinery required for manufacturing processes, and coordinate with maintenance and facilities teams to ensure proper installation, functionality, and upkeep.

Train production and support personnel on new or revised processes to ensure consistent understanding, adoption, and execution.

Serve on cross‑functional teams to address key operational, quality, and production challenges.

Lead and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, value stream mapping, Kaizen events, waste reduction efforts, and standard work development across production lines.

Continuously review manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable cost‑saving measures.

Educate and mentor production staff on Lean principles to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.00/hr.
