Job Description:

Location: Orlando Campus, 601 East Rollins, Orlando, 32803

Shift/Schedule: 36 hours- 3/12s 7pm-7am(weekend rotation)

Unit Highlight:

8TWR is a 39-bed Medical Progressive Care Unit dedicated to providing excellent patient care and supporting the development and growth of our team members. We offer a wide range of specialized services to our medical population and are experts in diabetic teaching. Our collaborative approach helps lead us to delivering the best outcomes for our patients.

8TWR, is the place where we learn something new every day.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, psychosocial, environmental, and developmental health status.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments safely, monitor patient responses, and document all related activities accurately.

  • Document patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in medical records to ensure continuity of care.

  • Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and preventive care.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care delivery.

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations to stabilize and provide necessary care to patients.

  • Monitor patient status continuously, noting any significant changes or concerns, and report findings to the healthcare team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

• The LPN will display proficient clinical skills and critical thinking skills with strong communication skills.

• Basic computer skills and experience with an electronic health record.

• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation proficiency as required by unit specialty.

• Comprehensive knowledge of general nursing theory and practices.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and others of diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast pace, high patient volume environment.

• Mental and emotional stability, demonstrating a courteous and calm approach to all contacts with patients, visitors, and health care team members.

• Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within applicable regulations.

• Personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion, and confidentiality.

• Critical thinking/problem-solving skills.

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.

• Unit specific competency must be met per orientation pathways.

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ in an acute care setting [Preferred]
