Position Announcement
UVU is seeking Certified Flight Instructors who are passionate about teaching and committed to student success. Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduated from high school or received a GED. This is a ladder position with pay rates dependent on experience and qualifications.
• The CFI and CFI1 certificates are required for all levels.
• The CFI 2 level requires 100 hours of flight instruction.
• The CFI 3 level requires 200 hours of flight instruction and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
• The CFI 4 level requires 400 hours of flight instruction and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
• The CFI 5 level requires standardization to teach in the multi-engine course; the CFI, CFII, and MEI certificates, and an 80% first-time pass rate on practical test sign-offs.
Licenses/Certifications
• FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land, Instrument Airplane, and other ratings applicable to the responsibilities assigned.
• Current FAA Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine and other ratings applicable to the responsibilities assigned.
• Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate.
• Current flight review and instrument privileges.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, including FAR Part 141.
• Knowledge of standard pilot training practices and all applicable information resources.
• Knowledge required to demonstrate competence in the privileges of the pilot and instructor certificates held.
• Must regularly demonstrate competence in all operational duties, including piloting, flight instruction, ground instruction, and student evaluation.
Skills
• Interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Abilities
• Pass initial and recurrent tests related to flight instructor duties and standardization requirements.
• Able to maintain proficiency and currency on required pilot and instructor privileges.
• Able to communicate professionally and effectively.

• Able to work professionally and collaboratively with others.
• Able to receive feedback and accept correction.
• Able to use standard word processing a nd general computer applications.
• Able to work within the operating limitations of all aircraft in the UVU fleet, including access to controls and emergency equipment.
