The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discovers, develops and deploys coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. Position Summary
As an R&D Senior Specialist - System Development you will be responsible for managing and supporting the development, innovation, and renovation of key technologies, processes, and beverage systems from ideation through all stages of development and industrialization. You will build and apply your expertise to provide strong scientific and technical guidance, enabling the delivery of innovative and competitive products that address business and consumer needs. You will ensure that all financials and project timelines are accurately maintained to support effective risk assessment and decision‑making.
A Day in the Life of an R&D Senior Specialist - System Development
Apply SHE rules and drive continuous improvement on Safety, Health, and Environment
Deliver innovative systems within defined quality, time, and cost constraints
Provide technical guidance as subject matter experts
Manage project resources, competence levels, and allocated budgets effectively
Collaborate with partners to manage roadmaps and support competitive pipeline of features
Own modular technology building blocks, secured, scalable, and reusable across platforms
Define, plan, and supervise technical trials and validation tests with Project Managers
Consolidate, analyse, and verify trial data and deliver complete documentation
Lead laboratory trials and ensure communication between Project Managers and technical community
Lead test coordination, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions with third parties.
Facilitate collaboration across project teams and R&D Units to enhance interaction and knowledge sharing
What will make you successful
BSc in Engineering minimum; MSc preferred in mechanical, micro‑technical, or related fields, with strong fluidic mechanics and thermodynamics skills
Solid R&D experience in product development and industrialization, ideally in mass‑produced engineering fields related to thermodynamics, fluidic mechanics, or optics
Experience in consumer goods or household appliances is a plus
Experience in competitive and complex environments similar to system development preferred
Proven communication skills with the ability to present confidently to engineering experts
Self‑motivated, interactive, curious, and entrepreneurial in mindset
Fluency in English; good level of French and/or German is a plus
