PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler/Buyer supports the maintenance department via planning and scheduling all non-emergency maintenance work including day-to-day activities, one-day outages, and major shut downs. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler/Buyer manages transactions for maintenance activities and purchases within the computerized maintenance management system, CMMS (SAP) and maintains safe custody of MRO supplies, purchased items, and other related inventories.
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler/Buyer performs all activities with the goal of making the maintenance department the example of workplace excellence at the plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan maintenance work orders including:
Walk down jobs and develop scope of work
Evaluate jobs to ensure they can be executed in a safe manner
Develop a bill of materials for job scopes
Secure necessary parts to execute jobs
Stage and/or kit parts for jobs
Estimate manpower needs
Define and schedule outside service contractor needs for jobs
Provide all necessary manuals, drawings, or other information to execute jobs
Identify all permits required to safely perform the job
Schedule all planned maintenance work including:
Define priorities for jobs in conjunction with production personnel
Develop weekly schedules of maintenance work documenting the jobs on the schedules
Accurately maintain the schedule
Manage maintenance department activities and costs through transactions within the CMMS (SAP)
Move work orders through the system from submission through scheduling
Authorized signer for safe work permits
Plan quality into every job
Lead the effort for a zero recordable record/safety performance of the maintenance department
Identify opportunities and implement solutions that move the manufacturing operation toward increased capacity through increased equipment reliability and reduced down time
Maintain high standards for documentation accuracy (equipment list, P&ID’s, loop sheets, wiring diagrams, etc.)
Produce metrics associated with the planning /scheduling function
Managing the Maintenance Storeroom - cycle counting, adjusting descriptions, ensuring labeling is correct.
Ensuring that the store is kept clean and organized.
SAP MRO-review daily, converting planner orders verifying quantity and supplier
Create and place purchase orders with vendors.
Follow-up on purchase orders to expedite delivery/shipment if required and communicate and issues/concerns/updates.
Recognizes, understands and addresses sourcing problems in a proactive manner. Meets with suppliers to understand and resolve issues in a timely manner, reducing impact on operations and sourcing needs.
Create new material numbers for parts being added into the MRO system.
Utilize SAP to manage inventory count and min/max of over 2800 parts
Work with project engineers to effectively leverage maintenance resources in the execution of capital projects
Fill the role of the Maintenance Manager when absent
Education
Minimum: High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical), Facilities Management, or Industrial Technology
Experience
Requires working knowledge of an industrial plant equipment (pumps, piping, heat exchangers, vessels, instrumentation, etc.) along with a background in maintenance and repair of this equipment in order to effectively plan daily maintenance department actives. This knowledge is gained through 5 or more years’ of industrial experience in an industrial plant, or other related industry, and at least 3 plus years working in maintenance.
Skills
The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler/Buyer position requires excellent organizational skills for planning all maintenance work along with good verbal communication skills for facilitating cooperation with all other departments. These skills are gained through previous experience as a planner/scheduler or indirectly through planning and scheduling activities as a mechanic. The maintenance planner/scheduler shall have demonstrated his/her ability to effectively organize and manage daily activities, demonstrated problem solving ability and demonstrated willingness to take on more responsibility and difficult assignments.
This position requires good computer and written communication skills. Additionally, working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is required. Prior knowledge of SAP a plus.
PLANNER - is a technical person with strong problem solving mind-set and responsible for developing detailed job packages
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The planner answers the questions – what, how and by whom.
Managing the work notification (validated) and work order backlog by reviewing backlog and planning list
Providing detailed work plans that insure safe and efficient execution of all maintenance jobs, except P0 and P1 urgencies
The planner creates WO, defines operations, their duration, the resources (work centers) and ensures the availability of materials/ spare parts for the required maintenance works.
Participating in development of weekly work schedules
Creating purchase order for necessary external resources and components
The planner creates tasks lists for repetitive repairs.
Continually updating work plans to ensure necessary changes or improvements are incorporated, and efficiencies are captured
Forwarding completed “ready to schedule” job packages to the Scheduler
Participating in reliability and continuous improvement meetings or actions
Ensure the completion of the predictive and preventive maintenance plan

You will get:
Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $80,800 - $101,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
