Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive. Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.
The opportunity:
We currently have an exciting full-time permanent position for a Community Support Policy and Best Practices Senior Manager. Reporting to the Senior Director, Community Support Services, the Community Support Policy and Best Practices Senior Manager supports the activities of the Community Support Services business unit by conducting policy and community research, identifying key themes and outcomes, synthesizing relevant information, updating/creating policy documents, writing briefings and preparing options and recommendations for the continuous quality improvements of service delivery. In addition, this position is vital to ensuring our service delivery is in compliance with best practice, policy, KPI’s as outlined in key service contracts.
This role requires an understanding of service delivery in the community support services sector. This includes knowledge of policy, legislation, regulations and program development that affect our sector and target group. The successful candidate will demonstrate a well-maintained network of contacts to ensure best practice and have the ability to exercise judgment in relevant information collection to determine what policies need to be developed or adjusted to reflect current day service delivery. In addition, the role requires the individual to work concurrently in multiple cross-functional teams, take direction and maintain confidential information. Key candidate characteristics include tact and diplomacy, time management and critical thinking skills and the desire to have a meaningful impact on the lives of Canadians with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
Collect, track and report on policy and legislative changes of concern to Community Support Services from government and stakeholder organizations in Ontario.
Work collaboratively with teams outside of Ontario where possible to ensure that the work completed is relevant to colleagues outside of the province to ensure the impact of policy changes on service delivery reflect the highest standard.
Conduct research and synthesize relevant information into briefings with options and recommendations.
Develop and deliver applicable training as per best practice.
Develop and update policies, procedures and associated forms/documents which permit continuous quality control and best practice.
Provide leadership and support to address and identify gaps in knowledge and skill for front-line & supervisory staff in collaboration with the regional management team.
Maintain a perspective of the operational issues, priorities and challenges in programs and services within Ontario.
Provide policy, legislative and program tracking support to March of Dimes Canada’s business units; offer CSS perspective on organizational policies and ensure that internal policies reflect organizational changes.
Work collectively with cross-functional project teams.
Ensure the teaching, ongoing monitoring and safe delivery of Special Functions for delegation as outlined in the College of Nursing Guidelines. Support clinical issues or concerns in the province and work closely with MODC Health & Safety department, HCCSS and contract training agencies.
Monitor the delegation of tasks and ensure MODC employees follow safe practices.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications and experience:
RN designation in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
Solid understanding of the Independent Living philosophy and best practices
Demonstrated understanding of provincial policy and legislation development processes
Advanced research skills
Superior written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated time management and independent work skills, and ability to work collaboratively on multiple project teams
Exceptional critical thinking skills, judgement, tact and diplomacy
Advanced Word and PowerPoint skills
Important details:
Must have RN designation and be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
This position will be a member of the Ontario team and is a work from home position with travel as required.
Salary: $107,948.00 per annum
