Jacobs Architectural Intern in Ontario, California

Jacobs is seeking an Architectural Intern to join our Aviation team based in Ontario, California. In this role, you’ll support airport projects that deliver innovative, practical solutions for complex challenges locally and worldwide. You’ll contribute to meaningful aviation infrastructure while gaining hands‑on experience in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

As an Architectural Intern, you’ll support the planning, coordination, and construction oversight of airside, landside, terminal, and facility improvement projects. This role blends academic knowledge with real‑world application and offers direct mentorship from experienced project managers, construction managers, engineers, and architects.

This is a part‑time, on‑site position (approximately 25 hours per week) working within an active airport environment.

Potential Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with architectural/engineering design and construction support activities

  • Contribute to design development, drawing production, and as‑built documentation

  • Support plan, specification, and submittal reviews to verify design alignment

  • Assist with constructability reviews and interdisciplinary coordination

  • Track and log RFIs, submittals, and change documentation

  • Participate in field observations and photo logs during construction

  • Support coordination with designers, contractors, and airport stakeholders

  • Assist with meeting materials, reports, documentation and technical summaries

  • Perform additional project support tasks as assigned

  • In pursuit of a bachelor's or master’s degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited program

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup, Enscape or other 3D visualization tools

  • Must live commutable distance from the office

Ideally you will also have

  • Strong interest in aviation architecture or large public facilities

  • Familiarity with LEED or sustainability concepts

  • Understanding of architectural drawings, specifications, and building systems

  • Experience with Bluebeam

  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to work on‑site in an active airport environment

  • Authorization to work in the country of employment without sponsorship

  • A portfolio of recent academic or professional work
