TITLE: Summer Student Cleaner (Multiple).

LOCATION: The Custodial Department.

SALARY: $34,312. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Job Description:

This is an active, hands-on summer position that plays a vital role in keeping our campus clean, safe, and welcoming. Summer cleaners are responsible for a variety of custodial and building tasks, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, cleaning windows and restrooms, collecting trash, and moving furniture. You will be working in environments that contain dust and can have occasional noise. This role will also keep you moving throughout your shift and will be physically demanding. The work you do will directly support students, faculty, and staff every day.

Required qualifications:

  • Must be a current college student enrolled in Fall 2026 to be fully considered.

  • Preference and/or exceptions may be considered in the following order: current SUNY Oneonta students; students enrolled at non-SUNY institutions for Fall 2026; and incoming students graduating high school by 07/01/26 and entering college.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor including, but not limited to, lifting heavy objects up to fifty pounds, standing, bending, walking, climbing, reaching, and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in an environment containing caustic chemicals and cleaning materials.

  • Ability to understand and carry out written and/or oral instructions.

  • Ability to work the required shift of 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday.

  • At least 18 years of age by 07/01/2026, with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Employees are expected to safely and properly use cleaning equipment and products, follow oral and written instructions, and complete tasks in a thorough and dependable manner. Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism are also essential, as you will be representing the university and supporting the campus community. This position is subject to CSEA rules and guidelines, as well as SUNY Oneonta policies. Failure to remain in compliance may impact employment status with SUNY Oneonta.
