Aerotek Maintenance Technician in Omaha, Nebraska

Maintenance Technician

$25-$32/hr

Job Description

Join a skilled maintenance team on a day shift schedule where you focus primarily on machinery repair and reliability in a large, modern, climate-controlled facility. This role emphasizes electrical, mechanical, and welding work on production equipment rather than traditional building maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of production machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including working with 480V systems, to quickly identify root causes and implement effective repairs.

  • Carry out mechanical repairs on equipment, including components such as motors, conveyors, and other moving parts.

  • Use welding skills to repair and fabricate parts as needed to support equipment uptime and reliability.

  • Work with pneumatics systems, including troubleshooting and repairing air lines, valves, and related components.

  • Collaborate with other maintenance team members to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and support production goals.

  • Respond to maintenance requests during the day shift and, when needed, support occasional weekend work or emergency call-ins with advance notice whenever possible.

  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately, including recording repairs, parts used, and work performed.

  • Support building maintenance tasks only on an occasional basis, such as when building maintenance staff are unavailable or in special circumstances.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

  • Electrical skills, including experience working with 480V electrical systems and troubleshooting electrical issues.

  • Solid mechanical maintenance experience on production machinery and related equipment.

  • Proficiency in welding for repair and light fabrication work.

  • Hands-on experience with pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.

  • Demonstrated ability to systematically troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.

  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and production staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a large manufacturing or industrial facility with modern equipment.

  • Familiar with environments that require frequent mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Personal interest or hobbies related to mechanical, electrical, or hands-on technical work that support on-the-job skills.

  • Flexibility to work some weekends or respond to occasional emergency call-ins when needed.

Why Work Here?

You will work in a modern, climate-controlled facility with relatively new equipment and a recently expanded production area, offering a clean and comfortable environment. The company supports its maintenance team with practical benefits such as reimbursement for glasses, tools, and work boots, as well as weekly pay for added financial flexibility. Maintenance professionals benefit from a dedicated building maintenance team, allowing you to focus primarily on machinery rather than routine building tasks. The organization values experienced technicians, offers consistent day-shift hours, and provides a stable environment that often attracts talent from more demanding and less comfortable industries.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very large, climate-controlled facility equipped with relatively new machinery and a recently completed 25,000-square-foot expansion that brought in additional equipment. You will work on a day shift schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some weekend work and occasional emergency call-ins, typically communicated in advance. The environment is industrial but not a food production facility, which often makes it less harsh than many food manufacturing settings. A separate building maintenance team handles most building-related tasks, so your primary focus remains on machinery and equipment. The facility uses modern tools and equipment to support electrical, mechanical, welding, and pneumatic work, and standard industrial workwear, including appropriate footwear and protective gear, is expected.
