Garmin Windows Systems Administrator 1 in Olathe, Kansas
Overview
We are seeking a full-time Windows System Administrator 1 at Garmin’s U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for performing basic administrative tasks, including managing basic system and performance management.
Essential Functions
Applies basic standards and procedures to accomplish tasks including learning how to use and apply applicable technologies, document work in an organized manner, and use proper tools and techniques to identify and resolve problems
Designs and develops basic integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s windows server computing systems
Performs and evaluates basic costs analyses and vendor comparisons for small projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations and measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems and other server based technologies
Communicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
Understands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems
Ability to author and implement basic scripting and coding to automate technical needs such as to move files, backup, create configuration, or other tasks
Ensures all security requirements are met or exceeded
Manages change effectively through documented change procedures and creates work instructions and knowledge articles
Manages basic system performance management, analyzes existing systems for improvements, and performs basic patching
Understands and ensures backup and recovery of system or application exists as well as understanding and enforcing basic system controls
Ensures the security access is appropriate and necessary approvals have been obtained and assist users to analyze/configure/tailor security and access levels to fit the need
Assists in performing internal audits and maintains regulatory compliance
Provides 24x7 on-call support/duties/procedures and responding to alerts and taking appropriate actions as required
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a technology related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrated ability to learn basic technical concepts independently
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
