ASRC Federal System Solutions supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace System (NAS) Engineering Support Services (ESS) contract.
We are seeking a highly motivated Engineering Project Planner to support the Weather Systems Group , contributing to the planning and execution of complex engineering programs that directly support critical aviation weather infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Lead development and maintenance of Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) across multiple projects within the Weather Systems Group
Drive schedule integration and alignment across engineering, testing, deployment, and operational activities
Coordinate cross-functional teams (federal and contractor) to ensure accurate status, priorities, and dependencies are reflected in project plans
Own weekly schedule reviews and status reporting, identifying risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies
Analyze program requirements and translate them into executable plans, including task sequencing, resource planning, and milestone tracking
Support Program Managers in budget planning, cost tracking, and performance measurement (e.g., schedule variance, risk metrics)
Identify and manage schedule risks, including impacts from hardware availability, testing constraints, and system integration challenges
Provide strategic recommendations on project execution, scheduling efficiencies, and resource optimization
Facilitate communication across stakeholders, ensuring transparency in schedule status and program health
Serve as a lead planner/coordination point, guiding team members and aligning multiple concurrent efforts
Coordinate with engineering and test teams to ensure lab and test environments are properly configured to support development, integration, and validation activities
Requirements:
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years .
On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.
Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Demonstrated experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering environments (software, hardware, or systems integration)
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including development of technical and programmatic documentation
Ability to obtain and pass an FAA background investigation
Must be located in the Oklahoma City area or willing to relocate
Ability to interface with physical systems/hardware environments as needed
Willingness to travel up to 5%
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related technical field preferred
7+ years of experience in project planning, scheduling, or program support roles
5+ years of experience developing and managing Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) using Microsoft Project (or equivalent tools)
Strong understanding of engineering lifecycle processes, including development, testing, and deployment
Experience working in hybrid development environments, balancing Agile software development practices with traditional engineering, testing, and deployment processes
Familiarity with FAA National Airspace System (NAS) programs and weather systems (e.g., AWOS, TDWR, NEXRAD), including their operational, maintenance, or lifecycle considerations
Experience supporting lab and test environments, including configuration management, replication of field/site configurations, test coordination, and troubleshooting of hardware/software integration issues
Experience supporting complex, distributed hardware/software systems in operational environments
Proficiency with computer systems, software, and hardware environments
Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems (e.g., AIX, Linux)
