RMC - Okemos Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in Okemos, Michigan
We are seeking a forward-thinking SDET to help modernize and lead our test automation strategy. This role will design and maintain scalable automation frameworks across UI and API layers using tools such as Playwright and TypeScript, while integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines.
You will also support manual testing within Agile feature teams, helping ensure quality for areas not yet automated. This role is critical to enabling teams to own both automated and manual testing, driving faster and higher-quality releases.

- Partner with Agile feature teams to review user stories, define acceptance criteria, and promote a test-first mindset.
- Build and maintain test automation frameworks for UI and API testing using Playwright (preferred), TypeScript, or other enterprise tools.
- Lead the transition from legacy frameworks (e.g., Selenium + Java, Postman/Newman) to modern CI/CD-integrated automation.
- Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to ensure tests run in CI pipelines and provide rapid feedback.
- Support manual testing efforts, including test case design, exploratory testing, and validation of complex workflows.
- Develop automated API tests (REST/SOAP) and end-to-end tests for functional and non-functional requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and test architecture decisions to ensure scalable, reusable test assets.
- Write SQL queries to validate data integrity and support test data strategies.
- Champion quality engineering practices, mentoring team members and improving QA processes.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, and defects, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies (e.g., HIPAA, security).

Hands-on experience with Playwright (TypeScript preferred) or similar frameworks such as Cypress.
Experience migrating from Selenium + Java or Postman to modern automation frameworks.
Familiarity with test reporting, dashboards, and quality metrics in DevOp
