Senior Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Facilities | Ogden,UT
Nexeo Staffing is hiring Senior Mechanical Engineers for a direct-hire role supporting a major infrastructure modernization program in Ogden,Utah. This long-term,federally funded initiative focuses on the design and development of secure,mission-critical facilities. Engineers in this position will contribute to complex,large-scale projects with lasting national impact.
This is a facility-focused engineering role not manufacturing or production-line work. Senior Mechanical Engineers will design HVAC,piping,and mechanical systems for large,highly engineered underground facilities,including secure infrastructure and launch-related systems across multiple Air Force installations.
This opportunity is ideal for engineers with experience designing large,complex facilities such as nuclear plants,petrochemical installations,data centers,hospitals,or major commercial buildings who want a stable,high-visibility engineering career on a nationally significant program.
Responsibilities
Design and evaluate HVAC and mechanical systems for large,secure facilities
Prepare and review P&IDs,engineering calculations,specifications,and datasheets
Develop procurement documents,material requisitions,and equipment specifications
Perform pipe sizing calculations and system analyses
Review vendor submittals and ensure technical compliance
Apply engineering standards,building codes,and best practices to design decisions
Coordinate with structural,electrical,civil,I&C,and systems engineering teams
Support construction and project execution by addressing mechanical requirements
Prepare engineering studies,reports,and technical documentation
Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers
Interface with clients,contractors,and regulatory agencies as needed
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S.
5+ years of mechanical engineering experience (8+ years for senior-level consideration)
Strong experience with:
HVAC system design for large facilities
P&IDs
Chilled water systems
Pipe sizing calculations
Equipment specifications and procurement documentation
Experience supporting DoD projects and working with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs)
Familiarity with quality programs such as ASME NQA-1 or AS9100D
Ability to pass background check and drug screening (including marijuana)
Real ID-compliant driver s license or state ID required
Highly Desired Experience
Facility design experience in:
Nuclear power plants
Petrochemical/refinery facilities
Data centers
Hospitals or large institutional buildings
Large commercial or government facilities
Experience developing custom equipment packages (skid-mounted systems,specialty equipment)
Experience coordinating across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Prior work on underground or secure facilities strongly preferred
Pay
$118,000 $150,000 per year
Schedule
Full Time | Mon Fri | 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Full-time onsite | 980 schedule (every other Friday off)
