Ophthalmic Technician - Oakland NJ
Multi-Specialty Eye Care Practice
A well-established eye care practice is looking to add an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to its clinical team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in patient care, enjoys a collaborative environment, and is comfortable supporting both clinical and procedural workflows.
What You’ll Do
Support physicians by collecting patient histories and assisting with clinical evaluations
Perform pre-testing and diagnostic assessments, including visual acuity and related eye exams
Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment such as OCT, visual field testing, and imaging tools
Assist providers during in-office procedures, including lasers and minor surgical services
Administer ophthalmic drops in accordance with certification requirements
Help maintain an efficient clinic flow across exam and imaging areas
Complete clinical documentation and assist with administrative duties as needed
What We’re Looking For
Prior experience working as an Ophthalmic Technician in a clinical setting
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks throughout the day
Clear communication skills and a patient-first mindset
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based environment
Familiarity with medical office workflows and basic administrative support
EMR experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Key Competencies
Dependable and professional work ethic
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with physicians, staff, and patients
Basic computer skills, including documentation and data entry
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oakland, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $34.00/hr.
