Primary Purpose
A management level attorney primarily responsible for all legal services relating to regulatory litigation and administrative law and who leads a group of attorneys and paralegals providing related legal services. Responsible for providing ComEd with efficient, high-quality legal services relating to electric utility regulation within Illinois. Provides legal services as a practicing counsel.
Primary Duties
1 Advises clients with respect to all aspects of regulatory litigation; provides counsel and guidance
to officers and executives of corporation regarding legal issues regulatory litigation
2 Represents ComEd and Exelon in dealing with outside law firms, government representatives and agencies,
independent technical experts, court representatives, and others in the legal profession as
delegated by the Vice President and General Counsel
3 Effectively manages, monitors, and assists in the career development of all attorneys and paralegals, ensures
that appropriate evaluation procedures are conducted in the law department, and
supervises lower level attorney and paralegal staff personnel
4 Prepare, and revise as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for matters
involving outside counsel
5 Works with entire Exelon legal function to continually improve delivery of legal services for Illinois
regulatory litigation 6 Perform significant projects / duties as assigned by the General Counsel
Job Scope
· Provides legal services as a practicing counsel, and directly manages relationships and matters with Exelon and ComEd Business Units and outside counsel.
· Able to think strategically and work with Exelon and ComEd Business Units to achieve Company objectives and manage risks
· Experienced in project management and supervision of professionals in lower level management
Minimum Qualifications
· An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in Illinois. At least 12 years of professional experience and widely recognized distinction for his/her specialty practice. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of legal field to the completion of complex assignments.
· Extensive knowledge of courts, regulatory agencies, and other applicable legal entities.
Preferred Qualifications
· Extensive knowledge of electric utility regulatory law or comparable administrative or litigation law, preferably in Illinois
· 5+ years of managerial experience of a legal professionals group, including other managers
· Ability to distill complex, high-stakes information into concise, actionable strategic advice to senior management
· Record of successful oral advocacy in complex litigation, mediations, or regulatory proceedings, including arguing motions, cross examination, and oral arguments
· Experience with internal investigations, regulatory audits, and/or appeals
Benefits
Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $212,800.00/Yr. – $292,600.00/Yr. plus an additional $50K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually
